At the School of Education, the degree in basic education intends to promote a teaching practice in formal and non-formal contexts, in order to enable its students to carry out professional activities in the area of education. With a very comprehensive curricular structure this course allows access to the masters for professional qualification for teaching such as kindergarten teachers or teachers of 1st and 2nd cycle. Inserted in level 6 of the EQF, it confers the degree, however does not grant the qualification for the teaching.
The school of Nursing of Porto invests in the development of innovative practices with health institutions. Opting for the following events:
-Develop and manage partnerships with health institutions, in order to put in practice innovative experiences of nursing care delivery;
-conclude medium-term protocols to ensure the stability of internships for clinical education;
-Organize events in national reference institutions, with the aim of bringing health institutions closer, by divating the nursing model recommended by the school;
-Organize congresses of education and Research in nursing, organized in thematic symposiums related to the areas of intervention and research of the school.
In a more practical way the trainees, besides making the stipulated hours and staying at the internship institution, also attend classes or seminars. Training moments, usually used for discussion of theoretical matters in the field of research, ensured by academics and professionals in the area. In addition, there are spaces for discussion about the experiences experienced by trainees at the internship sites.
The scientific-pedagogical units combine several strands in order to develop a stage of excellence. So the school tries to:
-Adapt the formative offer to the expectations of employers;
-Diversify the formative offer, extending the possibility of registration and attendance to New isolated curricular units;
-seeks to relax the schedules, in favor of the needs of trainees;
-Provide curricular units of courses in operation in the school, taught in English;
-Design a customized training portfolio tailored to the needs of the Partners.
The existence of the quality and evaluation Support Office has as its purpose, to implement and develop the quality management system, in order to achieve the continuous improvement of internal processes. Thus, in order to ensure success, the school puts into practice several strategies, including:
-Evaluate the course; Allowing disclosurelEvaluation report; Inquire of trainees and receiving entities thereof; Conducting advanced training actions, to employees about new functionalities, in order to be prepared, For example in the innovation of new technologies; Creation of multidimensional spaces, in order to allow the sharing of experiences between students and employees, whether professors or non-professors, in order to complement the learning and to equip students with new competencies; Promote academic qualification of all team.
The implementation of the various practices described above has given the stages of new valences.
Being the internships practiced in real context and in the places themselves, allows the trainee a level of observation and learning of excellence, this because nothing better, than feel the reality alongside the professionals to acquire the competencies.
The trainee has at his disposal a panoply of opportunities to expose the difficulties noted, may expose them to his advisor or even other employees who will be available to fill the difficulties felt.
The existence of the quality and evaluation support Office helps to achieve continuous improvement, In order to ensure success at school. With the implementation of various practices and strategies, this type of internship will be considered an added value in the teaching method.
